PHOTO SERIES CREATED IN 2019 I SÉRIE FOTOGRÁFICA CRIADA EM 2019
2014 . Young boy and woman over the years. This picture (2014) and the two following ones (2017, 2019) were taken in the Pedra e Cal neighborhood.
2017. The passage of time reveals how the spaces we inhabit are continually renewed, bringing forth new narratives. Human experiences remain ephemeral, while buildings that bear traces of the past illustrate the interconnectedness between environments and the memories we preserve.
2019. The building, once in ruins, has been renovated and now carries new stories. Yet, like the cycles of life, it too begins to age. While people grow and move on, the space remains, bearing witness to the transience of existence and the memories left behind.
2017. Transformation of a store over the years. This sequence of two photographs was also taken in the Pedra e Cal neighborhood.
2019. The owner embodies the connection between the objects and the memories of the place. The Sporting Clube de Portugal flag, visible in both images, evokes Mozambique's colonial roots.

EXHIBITION FEATURING PHOTOS FROM 2014 AND 2017 I EXPOSIÇÃO COM FOTOGRAFIAS DE 2014 E 2017
ENG. In February 2019, I continued this project with new objectives. The Koshukuro project took on a new dimension and was no longer exclusively photographic. On one hand, it seemed highly relevant from an anthropological perspective to create a new photographic exhibition, establishing a dialogue between the Images from the two periods, 2014 and 2017, addressing the themes of transformation versus permanence on the island. On the other hand, from the outset, it was both fair and essential for me to ensure greater inclusion of the inhabitants in this project. To achieve this, working groups were formed with the aim of integrating the local community into the creative process.
PT. EM FEVEREIRO DE 2019, DEI CONTINUIDADE A ESTE PROJETO COM NOVOS OBJETIVOS. O PROJETO KOSHUKURO GANHOU OUTRA DIMENSÃO E DEIXOU DE SER EXCLUSIVAMENTE FOTOGRÁFICO. POR UM LADO, PARECEU-ME BASTANTE PERTINENTE, DO PONTO DE VISTA ANTROPOLOGICO, CRIAR UMA NOVA EXPOSIÇÃO FOTOGRÁFICA, ESTABELECENDO UM DIÁLOGO ENTRE AS IMAGENS DOS DOIS PERÍODOS, 2014-2017, ABORDANDO A TRANSFORMAÇÃO VERSUS A PERMANÊNCIA NA ILHA. POR OUTRO LADO, DESDE O INÍCIO, FOI JUSTO E PRIMORDIAL PARA MIM GARANTIR UMA MAIOR INCLUSÃO DOS HABITANTES NESTE PROJETO. PARA ISSO, FORMARAM-SE GRUPOS DE TRABALHO COM O OBJETIVO DE INTEGRAR A COMUNIDADE LOCAL NO PROCESSO CRIATIVO.
The Church of São Sebastião, located within the fortress, hosted the 2019 exhibition and also served as a space for workshops. I A Igreja de São Sebastião, situada dentro da fortaleza, acolheu a exposição de 2019 e serviu também como espaço para os ateliês.
CREATIVE ATELIER I ATELIER CRIATIVO . ILHA DE MOÇAMBIQUE
PHOTOGRAPHY ATELIER WITH CHILDREN, EXPLORING CREATIVE TECHNIQUES AND PLAYFUL ENGAGEMENT WITH THE PROJECT I Atelier de fotografia com crianças, explorando técnicas criativas e UMA ABORDAGEM LÚDICA ao projeto.
ENG. The workshops were designed to ensure that everyone could benefit from greater exposure to photography, providing a space for learning and sharing. In these workshops, street children and students from various primary and secondary schools expressed themselves through photography, taking and printing their own photos, fostering an environment of camaraderie and creativity. The impact was very positive, as the children not only expressed themselves through their images but also had the opportunity to tell their stories and share their experiences.
During the workshop, participants received small digital cameras to capture and describe their daily lives, showcasing their personal visions and the surrounding reality.
The photographic works of the participants and the cardboard cameras were displayed on the walls of São Sebastião Church.
PT. OS ATELIÊS FORAM DESENVOLVIDOS DE MODO A QUE TODOS PUDESSEM BENEFICIAR DE UM MAIOR CONTACTO COM A FOTOGRAFIA, PROPORCIONANDO UM ESPAÇO DE APRENDIZAGEM E PARTILHA. NESTES ATELIES. MENINOS DE RUA E ALUNOS DAS DIVERSAS ESCOLAS PRIMARIAS E SECUNDÁRIAS EXPRESSARAM-SE ATRAVÉS DA FOTOGRAFIA, TIRANDO E IMPRIMINDO AS SUAS PRÓPRIAS FOTOS. PROMOVENDO UM AMBIENTE DE COMPANHEIRISMO E CRIATIVIDADE. O IMPACTO FOI MUITO POSITIVO, POIS AS CRIANÇAS NÃO SÓ SE EXPRESSARAM COM AS SUAS IMAGENS, COMO TAMBEM TIVERAM A OPORTUNIDADE DE CONTAR AS SUAS HISTORIAS E PARTILHAR AS SUAS VIVÊNCIAS.
Durante o workshop, os participantes receberam pequenas câmaras digitais para capturar e descrever o seu dia a dia, mostrando as suas visões pessoais e a realidade que os rodeava.
Os trabalhos fotográficos dos participantes e as câmaras de cartão foram expostos nas paredes da Igreja de São Sebastião.
