ENG. Mozambique is a Portuguese-speaking country located in Southeast Africa. It was one of the former Portuguese colonies that gained independence following the fall of Portugal's dictatorship in 1974. The TURBULENT DECOLONISATION process was followed by decades of civil war, which devastated the country.
For many, in Portugal, the name Mozambique resonates with familiarity, whether through historical or cultural ties.
The Koshukuro project originated from a journey to the Island of Mozambique, located in Nampula Province, a place with valuable heritage recognised by UNESCO since 1991. Its historical significance stems from its geostrategic position in the Indian Ocean trade routes. It was the first capital of Mozambique, giving the country its name. The Portuguese constructed various buildings here, characterised by colonial architecture. It was a place of extraordinary mixture of races, beliefs, and civilizations, and currently, this Mozambican diversity is still present today.

A SUA IMPORTÂNCIA HISTÓRICA DERIVA DA SUA POSICÃO GEOESTRATÉGICA NAS ROTAS COMERCIAIS DO OCEANO ÍNDICO. FOI A PRIMEIRA CAPITAL DE MOÇAMBIQUE, DANDO NOME AO PAÍS. OS PORTUGUESES CONSTRUÍRAM AQUI VÁRIOS EDIFÍCIOS, CARACTERIZADOS PELA ARQUITETURA COLONIAL. A ILHA FOI, E CONTINUA A SER, UM PONTO DE ENCONTRO EXTRAORDINÁRIO DE RAÇAS, CRENÇAS E CIVILIZAÇÕES. HOJE, ESSA DIVERSIDADE CULTURAL MOÇAMBICANA AINDA SE MANIFESTA VIBRANTE NO QUOTIDIANO DA ILHA.
